Who Are We?

The Young Women Advocacy Network was founded by a group of Toronto-based high school students who were frustrated at the lack of opportunity for youth to take meaningful action against gender-based violence in Canada. They, like countless other teenagers in their communities, were deeply passionate about guaranteeing the physical safety and financial freedom of women in precarious environments. But they hardly knew where to start when it came to creating change. Thus, YWAN was born. Our goal is to demystify advocacy for budding Canadian feminists by crafting easy, accessible, youth-centred advocacy opportunities. We want to connect tomorrow's leaders to resources that can empower them to leave an impact.
